The Sukkah is a symbolic recreation of the traditional structure built by the Israelites during their journey in Egypt. For eleven years now, Tulane architecture students team with the Hillel Jewish Center to design and build a temporary Sukkah to be used during the week-long celebration of Sukkot. Each structure must meet the traditional requirements. This design was a collaboration of our entire team, merging two golden ratio curves to create a sense of perfect natural enclosure. The drawings were produced by myself for publication. The build took one weekend to begin and complete, and was sited in the student center pocket park for three weeks. More information and pictures of the assembly can be found below.
