12 students at the Tina and Albert Small Center for Collaborative Design teamed up with community partner Jackie Sumell to design and build mobile carts for her local non-profit, Solitary Gardens. The apothecary carts, “apothecarts,” are bike powered and will deliver herbal medicine grown by the organization to local New Orleans communities affected by mass incarceration.
The project received the bronze medal in responsive design from the Design Educates international awards competition (linked below).
Our team was a combination of graduate and undergraduate students, namely Adrian Evans, Anna Deeg, Bhumika
Shirole, Claire DiVito, Dana Ridenour, Danelle Martin, Danielle Sheringa, James Rennert, Jeremy Baudy, Lizzie Bateman, Rebecca Dunn, and Zach Speroni led by instructor Emilie Taylor Welty.
