Beginning with a hand drawn synthesis diagram of the 7th Ward in New Orleans, our site, I analyzed elevation, historic avenues, street flooding during Hurricane Katrina, and aberrations to the neighborhood grid system. After developing a thorough understanding of the precinct, the project zoomed in and focused on a lot for which we were to design a Museum. Given the juxtaposing relationship New Orleans has with water, we were also assigned to integrate water into the building as a celebrated material; negotiating between the different ways users are able to experience water.
