A new programmatic study combining a downtown welcome center with a truck stop, this comprehensive project explores what it means to design elevating spaces for truck drivers, unlike current accommodations. Comprehensive studio focused on program placement throughout an 800 foot long site, along with code-compliant structural, mechanical and schematic design. The act of merging visitors with truck drivers, and providing intentionally designed spaces for both parties, activates architecture as an equalizing force to better society’s perception of the “lowly” yet incredibly crucial professional driver.
